Located just seven miles east of Dickson, TN, you’ll find Montgomery Bell State Park. This jewel has been a favorite of Middle Tennessee families for many years and April is the perfect time to visit with the weather starting to cool off.
Play A Round At The Golf Course
Montgomery Bell State Park features an eighteen hole golf course with Champion Bermuda grass greens. The course was originally built in 1973 and was then was redesigned by Gary Roger Baird in 1988. The golf course is heavily wooded and home to wildlife like deer, geese, and wild turkey. The course also features amenities such as practice green, driving range, pull carts, electric carts, on-site lodging, and snack bar. Lessons for all skill level golfers are available, as well.
Biking, Boating, Hiking, & More
Outdoor activities aren’t just limited to golf, either. You can bring your bike and go for a ride on 23.5 miles of dirt mountain bike trail. There are also three lakes at the park where you can boat. If hiking is your passion, there are eight different trails to choose from that range from 0.8 miles all the way up to 1.7 miles.
Fishing is one of the most popular activities at Montgomery Bell State Park. The 50 acre Lake Woodhaven offers fishing for bream, bass, and catfish.
Make It A Weekend and Camp Out
The campground at Montgomery Bell State Park is open year round and provides 20, 30, and 50 amp electric service along with accommodations for 60 ft. campers. According to the park’s website, there are 47 sites equipped with water and electric, 40 sites with on-site sewer and accommodations for pop-up campers, and large RVs.
If “roughing it” isn’t your thing, but you still want to stay overnight at Montgomery Bell State Park, consider a stay at the Inn. It’s located in Burns, TN, and features 118 rooms with views of Lake Acorn. You’ll enjoy amenities such as an indoor pool, cable tv, seasonal outdoor pool, and exercise room.
